Technology
What is the difference between HBOT and IHHT?
With HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen) you breathe oxygen-enriched air under raised pressure inside a chamber, so that more oxygen can be absorbed and transported by the body than with normal breathing. With IHHT you breathe alternating oxygen-reduced and oxygen-enriched air through a mask at normal pressure: interval training with air, no pressure, no chamber. Hard and soft chambers work with raised air pressure; IHHT and altitude training do not. That determines the footprint, the installation requirements and how you supervise a session.
When do I choose HBOT and when IHHT?
The technology is rarely the hardest choice. What decides is the number of users, the space available and how you want to supervise sessions. HBOT is chosen for recovery and performance programmes where depth and comfort matter; IHHT for sport, recovery, energy and vitality programmes with many changing users and no pressure installation. Many centres run both side by side. Our configurator and the showroom are the fastest way to find out.
What does an HBOT session feel like?
During an HBOT session you sit or lie in a comfortable pressurised chamber. What you may notice is a light pressure on your ears while the pressure builds, comparable to climbing or descending in an aircraft. You can relax, read or watch a film. The pressure is built up and released calmly and you can communicate with the operator at any moment.
How does the altitude principle of IHHT work?
IHHT alternates short, controlled phases of oxygen-reduced air (hypoxia) with phases of oxygen-enriched air (hyperoxia), driven on our systems by the user's blood oxygen saturation or heart rate. The body is exposed to altitude-like conditions in intervals without leaving the room. The HT LOW altitude trainer delivers oxygen-reduced air only and is intended for targeted altitude adaptation rather than interval training.
Can I combine HBOT and IHHT?
Yes, and many of our clients do. HBOT and IHHT can run side by side in one location: capacity grows without one unit determining all the revenue, and you can build programmes rather than sell individual sessions. Molecular hydrogen (Boost H₂) is easily combined within the same programme.
Sessions and use
How long does a session take?
An IHHT session usually takes around 50 to 60 minutes. An HBOT session often takes a little longer, on average 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the programme and the chosen pressure setting. One hard chamber running 60-minute sessions across a ten-hour day can theoretically deliver eight to nine sessions; in practice we work with an occupancy of fifty to seventy percent for an established location.
Is HBOT in a chamber safe?
Our chambers carry a signed EU declaration of conformity and are supplied with the conformity file, the manual, the safe-use instructions and the maintenance schedule. The pressure is built up and released calmly, pressure gauges and relief valves sit inside and outside the chamber, and the user can communicate with the operator at any moment. We train your team in safe use, per-user settings, hygiene, fault recognition and what to do when a session has to be stopped. If you have health complaints, discuss your plans with your physician before starting.
Do I need to wear specific clothing?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is recommended for both. In an HBOT chamber you can keep your own clothes on as long as they are not static; cotton is preferred, and the interior and seat of our hard chambers are made from flame-retardant materials. For IHHT you only wear a mask, so clothing matters less.
How many sessions are needed to notice a difference?
That differs per person and per goal. Users of IHHT often build a programme of 10 to 15 sessions. With HBOT it depends strongly on the goal: for recovery between training sessions a few sessions are often used, while longer programmes are built for longevity and vitality. We explain how the technology works and what users experience, and we build the programme with you.
Buying, renting and installation
Can I buy, rent or lease a hyperbaric chamber?
Yes: purchase, rental, lease, or rent with purchase option. The equipment determines the technology, the financing determines how much capital you commit at the start, and the two are independent. Our minimum rental term is three months. With rental and lease, maintenance, warranty handling and technical support are included; consumables such as masks, straps and filters are supplied separately. Prices and quotations are prepared per project; request one through the contact form or the configurator.
How much warranty do I get?
Every system comes with the manufacturer's warranty, handled by us: you keep one point of contact in the Netherlands rather than an email address abroad. The standard term differs per system and manufacturer, from one to three years. For many systems the warranty can be extended to three years; on the ULTRA, for example, the standard two years on the chamber can be extended by a third year. Your quotation states exactly what applies to your system. On top of that, we keep masks, filters and critical parts in stock so a defect does not mean a week of downtime.
What space and power does a hard chamber need?
For a hard chamber allow the chamber plus around one metre of clear space around it, and a separate place for the concentrator, booster and cooling. A complete hard chamber with peripherals reaches a connected load of several kilowatts, so a dedicated circuit is advisable. Soft chambers and IHHT systems need considerably less and run from an ordinary wall socket. The NAVY passes through doorways from 785 mm; the ULTRA fits through doorways from 90 cm and can be installed upstairs. We check the room in advance for dimensions, ventilation and power supply.
Are the chambers certified?
In this market almost every product carries the word CE. On its own that says little: it matters whether a signed declaration of conformity sits underneath it, which directives were assessed, and whether the exact model is named in the documents. We supply the full file with every system and tell you in advance what is in it. The ULTRA, for example, carries an EU declaration of conformity signed by the manufacturer, assessment under the Low Voltage and EMC Directives, an ISO 13485:2016 quality system issued by TÜV SÜD and an electrical safety report tested to IEC 60601-1. None of the systems in our overview is a medical device under the MDR.
Do you deliver outside the Netherlands?
Yes. We deliver, install and support in the Benelux and across Europe, and worldwide on request. From a single unit to the complete fit-out of a Recovery & Performance zone, the same people and the same standard apply.
